Happy Valentine's Day

Greetings, HistoryAmerica Regulars & Friends!

Here are two very special cruises for those who have a love affair with history:

"Love and War: Great Love Stories of the Civil War" with historians Virginia Morton and Sara Bartlett is set for September 3-10 on the magnificent Mississippi Queen. This week-long cruise will take you back to love in America in the Victorian age — in the midst of civil war. We will see how, despite battles, sieges, separation, and tragedy, love, in the end, does conquer all. Out of the pages of history books where battles and campaigns prevail, Virginia will introduce us to the people — their adventures, hardships, disappointments, but most of all, their love for one another. Sara will portray Clara Barton, the war's great nurse-heroine. Sail from Chattanooga to Memphis on this romantic adventure on the Tennessee, Ohio, and Mississippi rivers. Prices start at $1,495 per person, based on double occupancy.

On February 14, 1862, the battle of Fort Donelson was raging. Two days later, this significant Union victory gained Ulysses S. Grant a promotion and recognition in the Union army. We will study, in detail, this unique figure from American history as we sail from St. Paul to St. Louis with renowned historian and Grant biographer, Geoffrey Perret. Departing November 1, we will sail on the elegant Mississippi Queen to St. Louis, arriving November 8. Along the way, Geoffrey will provide insights into Grant's life, from his humble frontier beginning to his rise to President of the United States. We will spend two days in St. Louis at the end of the cruise, visiting historic sites and on the last evening, attending an antebellum cotillion. Prices for the ten-day/nine-night package start at $2,175 per person, based on double occupancy.

So, bring your finery and your dancing shoes as you embark on one of these romantic voyages. Call now as space is going quickly! Charlene – (866) 451-5018. Julia – (800) 628-8542.
